| The colors of Spring—the translucent green of new grass, the velvety-pink of a rose petal, the warm soft yellow of sunshine gaining ground against the grip of winter—in like lambs, they’re coming out this season like lions. But proceed with caution! These gentle pastels offer a surprisingly powerful punch to the senses—kind of like discovering that your roommate’s ‘little’ brother is six-foot two with bedroom eyes and a come-hither smile.
Watch for light metals—sterling, white gold or platinum—and you’ll find them adorned with fully saturated pastels from the warmer side of the color wheel: topaz, citrine, amber, tourmaline, pearl, rose quartz, and peridot. Crafted into earrings, these colors appear on shoulder dusters, hoops and chandeliers.
Movement is uppermost on designer’s minds. Beads and stone-set components dangle not only from earrings but also from necklaces and bracelets. Colorful stones rattle and chatter gently as they bump and dodge each other. Their overgrown cousins flash and sparkle from the most fashionable fingers.
You mightn’t think that a pastels could be vibrant, energetic and demanding. This season, they are all that and more. Every variety of pink, green and yellow—transparent, translucent or opaque—is electrifying not only the jewelry it’s in but also any fashion you accessorize with it. Reach into the rainbow and really sparkle this Spring.
